MDS Admission in Punjab – Process

The BFUHS conducts the MDS admission process in Punjab online through their official website: http://www.bfuhs.ac.in/

If you are interested, you have to begin with registration and follow the complete outline of the MDS admission process to get a seat in Punjab. The overview is given below:

  • Online Registration.
  • Provisional Merit List.
  • MDS Seat Matrix.
  • Security Deposit.
  • Choice-filling round.
  • Provisional result.
  • Deposition of the tuition fee.
  • Reporting to the allotted college.

Online Registration

You first have to create your profile at http://www.bfuhs.ac.in/. The link for the MDS registration will be available from a specific date fixed by the BFUHS.

The online registration will require your identification details (name, address, caste, DOB, etc.), NEET qualification details (NEET Roll no., NEET Rank, NEET Score) and also your email ID and phone number, which you have used during the NEET exam registration. Additionally, your past BDS records and institutional information are also sought.

Apart from that, two important documents that you need to keep handy are your passport photograph and your signature in a 30 KB size and JPEG format. Both of these have to be uploaded during the registration process.

Once this is complete, your login credentials will be sent to you through the registered mail or SMS, which you need to record the entire process carefully.

If needed, you can also check the list of documents needed for MDS counselling.

Registration fee

Like any other counselling, Punjab MDS registration also levies a fee to complete the process. You have to pay it online and generate the receipt of payment for future documentation.

The amount for the registration fee is Rs. 5950/- and Rs. 2950/- for unreserved and reserved categories, respectively.

Once your payment is made, you will be allowed to access your profile to participate in the next steps in line.

Provisional Merit List

After the online registration concludes, after a day or two, the provisional merit list of the eligible candidates for MDS admission is published on the website.

The BFUHS states that the eligibility clause requires every applicant to have completed BDS and the following internship from a recognized dental institute.

Secondly, it also states that the applicant should be qualified for the NEET MDS exam with the announced percentile in the relevant year.

MDS Seat Matrix

Simultaneously, after the publication of the merit list, the information in context to the availability of MDS seats in Punjab is also displayed on the admission forum.

Security Deposit

The confirmation to participate in the further process after the submission of the willingness supplements registration.

This step includes the payment of the security deposit fee, which is, of course, refundable but compulsory for participating in the option entry round.

The security deposit that has to be paid online is between Rs.25000/- to Rs.2,00,000/- for applying in only govt institutes and private institutes/both, respectively.

With the payment completion, don’t skip to download and save the proof for documentation.

Choice-filling round

The choice-filling round lasts for 2-3 days, and you can enter your preferences for MDS speciality and institutes.

This stays editable till the last date of the option entry round. However, a systematic approach can really help you get an excellent match for MDS, as per your expectations!

Provisional result

As the option entry round closes, the results will soon make their way to the admission forum.

The processing of MDS seats is completed based on rank. However, residents of Punjab do have an advantage of state quota seats.

Yes! In Punjab, even in private colleges, state-quota reservations are there for candidates bearing the state domicile.

Deposition of the tuition fee

Now, once your MDS result is out, the decision is yours!

You can accept your fate or reject the allotted MDS seat and try again in the next rounds of counselling.

Well, if you go with the former, then a deposition of six months of your MDS fee is required to confirm the admission. This fee is paid to the university through the same portal, and it is adjusted later in due course with the allotted dental institute.

Once you deposit the fee, your allotment letter will be available online. So, you have to present the fee receipt and the allotment letter during the re\porting procedure.

Reporting to the allotted college

Popular as the ‘document verification round’, this is the same conducted in the last step in the MDS admission process in Punjab.

Once you are allotted, you have to report to the respective dental institute. Usually, this has to be done within a designated period of 2-5 days.

Additionally, your verification of eligibility and information is done through the evaluation of your original documents.

Once all the formalities are completed, your admission order will be offered to you by the college authorities.

And with this, we have come to the end of Punjab and the MDS admission process there!
