NEET MDS Counseling: Overview

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) and the Medical Counseling Committee of India (MCCI), New Delhi, implement the MDS counselling process annually. Also, you must know that the counselling for the AIQ, Central Universities, and Deemed Universities is conducted online by the MCCI. Students interested in these categories of dental institutes have to register through https://mcc.nic.in/.

On the other hand, the MDS counselling for the state quota seats and management seats in the various government and private dental colleges is held under the competent authorities of the individual states. Likewise, students planning to join state-affiliated dental colleges have to apply through the admission portal suggested by the medical directorates of that particular state only.

The all-India MDS counselling is held online and is commonly accomplished in four rounds. It involves a cascade that includes online registration, followed by choice-filling and the announcement of the provisional result. Finally, admission is confirmed only after physically reporting for the verification of documents. This is the basic outline of ‘the sequence of events’, followed by all-India and various other state counselings for MDS admission.

The verification of eligibility and original documents is the last and final step to the final allotment of your MDS seat. We understand that you might calm down your nerves after you get a seat, but the anxiety stays until your admission is confirmed.

So, here is a list of documents you need to set up right before you produce them to the designated authorities. You can also refer to the last-minute checklist, which we have also attached below for your convenience.

    • Dear Rajdeep,

In UP, there are no reservations for Private dental colleges. In government colleges there are reservations. I suggest you to apply for the latest OBC certificate. So that the document verification procedure will be easy.
