MDS Admission Process in Himachal Pradesh

The counselling process is conducted online through the website http://www.amruhp.ac.in. After NEET exam results are announced, this process is accomplished in four rounds of NEET counselling

Each round lasts for 10-15 days and is designed in 8 steps given below

  1. Submission of online application.
  2. Payment of fee.
  3. Display of Merit list.
  4. Payment of Security fee.
  5. Choice Filling.
  6. Display of Provisional Allocation.
  7. Display of Final Allocation.
  8. Report for admission to the allotted College.

Submission of Online Application 

Online form-filling is the first step to registration, i.e. creating your profile.

To submit the form, you must register using all your credentials and academic details, upload your photo (100 kb, jpeg) and Signature (100 kb, jpeg) and other relevant documents (1024 kb).

Record your login credentials somewhere carefully! Every time you need to access your profile, they are required.

Another important reminder! Cross-check all the information you have provided before you pay the registration fees without any haste.

Payment of Fee

The registration is completed only after you pay the registration fee. 

The charges are Rs.3,300/- (General Category) and Rs.2,200/- (SC/ST/PDW/EWS categories). 

Once paid, you will be able to generate a printout of the online application form. This is an important document, so save it for future reference.

Display of Merit list 

A combined State Merit list of MDS applicants will be released on the http://www.amruhp.ac.in portal by the counselling authorities. 

This list will contain the names of eligible students to participate in the option entry round. 

So, before you pay the security fees, make sure your name is on this list!

Payment of Security fee

A refundable token of money before the option entry is mandatory to pay to the counselling authority. 

In Himachal, the MDS, the security deposit varies as per your choice of institute. 

You should pay Rs. 20,000/- for Government Dental College and State quota seats.

For applying for Management Quota seats in Private Dental Colleges, Rs.50,000/- has to be paid as the security deposit. 

Choice Filling

As the name suggests, the choice filling is the option entry round. 

Once the round commences, it goes on for 2-3 days, and you can fill out your branch and college preferences in any of the seat categories you are eligible for. 

Display of Allocation and Results

Within a day or two after the option entry is completed, the MDS allotment list will be announced. The allotment is rank-based.

If you are willing to accept the allotment, you have to report to the allotted College to complete the admission process.

Along with the result, the allotment letter will be released online, too. You have to save it for the document verification process.

Report for admission to the allotted College 

The reporting procedure is carried out in the same institute where you are allotted. 

Usually, it is the evaluation of all original documents to verify the eligibility of the student, as well as a medical examination for fitness. 

Now, with all the formalities completed, your MDS admission process comes to an end!


MDS Eligibility Criteria in Himachal Pradesh

However, from what information I have gathered, the fees of non-clinical branches and clinical branches like Periodontology and Pedodontics vary slightly from this figure.

The colleges might also offer a lesser annual fee for management seats for MDS.


Extra Fees-MDS in Himachal Pradesh

It’s not surprising that there are always some additional expenses in MDS courses. Instead, what can be surprising is how much? 

The extra fees include material expenses, university charges, college security fees, library charges, etc. and might cost you around Rs.70,000/- to a lakh annually. 

Apart from these miscellaneous charges, if you are looking for a hostel, then another lakh to Rs.1,25,000/- can be charged by the institute depending on their facilities.
