BDS Admission in UP 2024 – Procedures, Fee Structure, Guidance

Greetings everyone! The Indian state of Uttar Pradesh is located in the North and is known as the Heartland of India. A huge part of it is also known as the Delhi NCR region. UP is one of the largest states and is popular for its historical monuments, rich culture, tradition, and royal cuisine!

Apart from these, the state has also converted into one of the biggest and most chosen education hubs. A huge number of students migrate to the state to pursue medical and dental education every year!

Did you know that Uttar Pradesh has a huge number of dental colleges currently? All these colleges are offering Bachelor of Dental Surgery courses and most colleges are very well reputed.

So, in this article, we are going to discuss the BDS in terms of the admission process, total seats, fee structure, and eligibility criteria in Uttar Pradesh. So, hang on there and allow me to give you a detailed idea about the BDS Admission Process in Uttar Pradesh.

DCI, through the circular below, made it clear that NAAC is mandatory for all dental colleges in India. Even after multiple warnings, 70% of the colleges haven’t applied for NAAC.

DCI may make it stricter this year for colleges to apply for NAAC. It is to standardize dental education and the quality of colleges.

As personal advice, I suggest you choose only NAAC-accredited dental colleges. You can review the DCI circular below.

BDS Admission in Uttar Pradesh

The Directorate General of Medical Education, Uttar Pradesh, conducts the BDS admission process in UP.  You have to participate in the NEET UG state counselling to get BDS admission there.  The NEET counselling of the state involves the following steps.

  • Online Registration.
  • Payment of fees.
  • Registration Fees.
  • Security Deposit.
  • Publication of Merit List.
  • Choice filling and choice locking.
  • Result Declaration.
  • Downloading of Allotment Letter.
  • Reporting and Admission.

Online Registration

If you have qualified for NEET UG, register yourself on the admission website of UP-DGME (https://upneet.gov.in/).

You have to add also your identity details, caste/category, NEET exam details, communication details, and also your past academic information.

Also, you will have to upload scanned copies of a few documents, such as school mark sheets, caste certificates, etc, to complete the application. Hence, before you start this process, keep all the related information ready to fill in!

Payment of fees – Registration Fees & Security Deposit

Registered students must pay a registration fee of Rs. 2,000/- online. This will complete the online registration.

Another fee you have to pay to be eligible for choice-filling. This is called the security deposit. This amount is Rs. 1,00,000/- lakh and is refundable after admission. Remember to collect a copy of the online application form and the payment receipts.  Save the copies carefully for future use.

Merit List

The state merit list will be released after the online verification of the registered students. The UP-DGME will provide the list of eligible students before the choice-filling round. Your name must be on this list to participate further!

Choice filling and choice locking.

You can select your preferred BDS institutes during this round. Once you enter the choices, make sure you lock them in the given period as well. The choice filling is incomplete till you finally lock your choices.

Choice filling and locking are conducted within a scheduled time of 2-3 days. So, you have to do this within the specified time only!

Result Declaration

The DGME will then publish the allotment results. The seat allotment depends on your opted choices and NEET rank.

Downloading of Allotment Letter

This letter is issued by the DGME to all the allotted students and is required during the document verification.

So, if you got the allotment for BDS, then the allotment letter needs to be downloaded.

Reporting and Admission

Your final confirmation of the BDS admission is done during reporting.

The allotted students have to visit the nodal centre with the original documents for verification. Here, designated authorities will evaluate your documents and give the admission confirmation if everything goes well!

Finally, you will then report to your allotted institute and join the BDS community!
