The types of courses available in Sri Venkateshwara Dental College in the field of dentistry are:

Four years of academic knowledge and hands-on training make up the BDS program. The internship year is the following year after the completion of all four years. Only skill development and practical experience are involved in this internship year. After the full internship year is over, the entire BDS degree is granted. Basic science courses are taught over the first three years of the program, with a focus on dental practice in the last year. 

The eligibility criteria for BDS are: 

  • The student should have passed the Government of Tamil Nadu’s Higher Secondary Examination.
  • A candidate must receive at least a 50th percentile score in the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test to the BDS course held for that academic year to be eligible for admission for that academic year.
  • The minimum score for candidates from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes must be at the 40th percentile.

The MDS program lasts for three years. For the candidates to be eligible, they need to fulfill the following requirements:

  • They have to be graduates of a dental college with accreditation that offers the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree.
  • They have to be a dentist who is currently registered with the State Dental Council.

MDS is offered in the following departments:

  • Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics.
  • Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry.

The institute provides air-conditioned lecture rooms that are outfitted with standard audio and visual systems, sufficient teaching and learning resources including LCD projectors, and enough seats. The newest technology and advanced facilities are available in every dental department. These labs enhance the knowledge of the students by simulating staff-led instruction and providing hands-on experience.

To provide the less fortunate members of society with access to reasonable healthcare, the Shri Isari Velan Mission Hospital was founded in 2012. Situated on campus, it functions as a teaching hospital for dentistry students pursuing their undergraduate degrees. Male and female wards, dialysis wards, physiotherapy departments, pharmacy, operating theatre, consultation rooms, and lab facilities are all equipped at this facility. It also has a palliative care unit for the people. For the advantage of the patients and their guests, there are extra amenities such as a library, meditation hall, and amusement areas.

Accommodations are offered by Sri Venkateswara Dental College and Hospital to both staff and students. These facilities have a cozy atmosphere that helps them to feel at home. There are more than 100 rooms in the hostels for boys and girls. There are different-sized rooms available to fit two, three, or four students. Every room has a cot, desk for studying, almirah, study table, and chair, as well as sufficient ventilation and lighting. The hostel is equipped with a RO system to filter pure drinking water and a 24-hour power backup. The hostels are supervised by hostel Wardens. The faculty at the college is also provided with housing. Four building blocks make up the staff quarters. Each block has two ground-floor apartments with two double beds and an attached bathroom. There are other double-bedroom apartments available for staff use. There is an attached bathroom and toilet in every room.

A food provider manages the campus mess. Boys’ and girls’ dining areas are segregated. The mess has access to the newest facilities, sufficient ventilation, hygienic facilities, exhaust fans, etc. A maximum of 200 people can eat their food at once. In addition, the college campus also has a separate cafeteria to meet the needs of all the students and staff members. This canteen uses good quality ingredients, and the management provides the RO water utilized for cooking.

Both the staff quarters and the hostels have intercom connections. The intercom connections are used to route incoming parent calls to the pupils. There is Wi-Fi available in the staff quarters and hostels. All staff quarters and hostels feature large TV sets with cable connections.

To make it easier for staff and students to go to the campus, Sri Venkateswara Dental College and Hospital runs college buses on several routes to various locations throughout the city. After college, these buses return staff and students to their designated bus stops. For the comfort of the patients, separate buses run on designated routes to and from surrounding locations.
