Sri Sankara Dental College was established in the year 2005 under the aegis of The S R Educational and Charitable Trust. The college is affiliated with The Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS). It is recognized by the Dental Council of India (DCI). The MDS program is 3 years of academics. The candidates seeking admission to MDS are required to qualify for the NEET-PG Entrance Examination.

Sri Sankara Dental College has an Outpatient Department (OPD) attended by almost 100 patients every day. The attached medical hospital facility has a provision of 400 beds and 2 operation theatres (OT) where major as well as minor surgeries along with cancer treatment and various other treatments and procedures are carried out.
The college has advanced digital X-ray systems and diagnostic aids, dental software, the latest restorative materials, and types of equipment to keep the students updated with the latest advancements in the field of dentistry.
The dental college has 5 lecture halls with each hall having a seating capacity of 100 students. The lecture hall makes use of advanced audio and visual aids, multimedia projectors, and public addressing systems. The college also has both pre-clinical and clinical laboratories for the students to practice and improve their tactical skills.
The college library is entirely Wi-Fi enabled. It offers more than 6000 books and has subscriptions to both national as well as international journals. Numerous reference books, textbooks, and research articles are also available.
The college hosts many educational programs like conferences, seminars, and cultural events in its college auditorium. The auditorium has a seating capacity of 200 students at a single time. The auditorium is also well-equipped with multimedia facilities.
The dental college also has proper residential facilities. The college hostels are near the college. The hostel mess is run on a cost-sharing basis. Hostels are separate for boys and girls. Each hostel is well-furnished with all the required facilities. Each hostel has a warden and security guards who help to make the stay comfortable and safe.
