NITTE (Deemed-to-be-) University has its base in a group of institutions established by the NITTE Education Trust. AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences was established in the year 1985. It is recognized by the Dental Council of India (DCI) and the Malaysian Dental Council. The college was previously affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.
Presently the college is affiliated with NITTE University. It is also an affiliate of Okayama University Dental College, Japan. It is also an academic mentor to Oman Dental College, Sultanate of Oman. Their motto is “Service to humanity” and “Dental healthcare delivery at the doorstep”.
AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences has been accredited with the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) ‘A+’ Grade. The college offers a BDS course of 5 years i.e. 4 years of BDS plus 1 year of compulsory internship. The candidates seeking admission to the BDS course are required to qualify for the NEET-UG Entrance Examination.
The MDS program is 3 years. The candidates seeking admission to MDS are required to qualify for the NEET-PG Entrance Examination. The candidates also have to complete their BDS from a recognized dental college and must also be registered dental practitioners by any State Dental Council. MDS is offered in the following departments –

There is a 24000 sq. ft. Indoor Sports Complex within the campus that houses a basketball court, 4 badminton courts, a volleyball court, and a throwball court. Physical education teachers are also available on campus.
